# Zonnehoed

## Echinacea purpurea

Zonnehoed (Echinacea purpurea) is een Noord-Amerikaanse prairie-plant met lancetvormige bladeren en karakteristieke bloemen met ophogede schijven die uitstekend geschikt is voor natuurlijke borders waar wildlife-ondersteuning en geneeskrachtige planten gewaardeerd worden. Deze plant wordt 60-100 cm hoog en heeft ruwe bladeren met bloemen bestaande uit paarse straalbloemkronen rond opgehogede, oranje schijf die juli-september verschijnen.

De bloemen hebben karakteristieke koepelvormige schijf die opvalt en paarse tot witte straalbloemkronen. Plant groeit vanuit wortelstok en heeft ruwe, lancetvormige bladeren. ##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Zonnehoed stelt weinig eisen aan de bodem, zolang de bodem humusrijk en goed gedraineerd is groeit hij goed. De plant past goed in de border, prairietuin, vlindertuin en is mooi als snijbloem. Plantdichtheid: 8 - 12 per m²

### Cultivars (Soorten)

E. purpurea 'Leuchtstern' wordt zo'n 80 cm hoog, met purperrode bloemen; 'White Swan' heeft grote, zuiver witte bloemen met een oranjebruin hart.

### Onderhoud

Plant zonnehoed in volle zon in goed doorlatende grond. Plant verdraagt droogte goed eens gevestigd.

Laat zaadhoofden staan voor vogels in winter. Verdeel pollen om de 4-5 jaar voor verjonging.

Water eerste jaar regelmatig. Gevestigde plant is droogteverdragend en vraagt minimaal onderhoud.
