# Zilverkaars

## Actaea sp.

Zilverkaars (Verbascum bombyciferum) is een Turkse tweejarige plant met grote, zilverachtige bladeren en hoge aren van gele bloemen die uitstekend geschikt is voor droge borders waar architecturale accent-planten en zilver-effecten gewenst zijn. Deze plant wordt 150-200 cm hoog en heeft grote, ovale bladeren bedekt met zilverachtige viltige beharing en gele bloemen in dichte aren die juni-augustus verschijnen.

De bladeren hebben intense zilver-witte kleur door dichte wollige beharing die beschermt tegen droogte. Bloemen zijn helder geel en staan dicht opeen in lange rechtopstaande aren. Plant groeit vanuit bladroset in eerste jaar en bloeit spectaculair in tweede jaar. Zilverkaars is perfect voor droge tuinen waar dramatische hoogte-accenten en zilver-contrasten centraal staan.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Deze plant mag niet in de volle zon staan en kan overleven op alle grondsoorten. Ze staat het best aan de rand van een bos. Een frisse en vochtige bodem is noodzakelijk.

### Onderhoud

Plant zilverkaars in volle zon in zeer goed doorlatende, schrale grond. Plant verdraagt geen wateroverlast.

Water zeer spaarzaam - alleen bij extreme droogte. Te veel water vernietigt zilvereffect en plant.

Laat plant zich uitzaaien voor nieuwe exemplaren. Geen bemesting - houdt van arme grond.
