# Zachte naaldvaren

## Polystichum sp.

Zachte naaldvaren (Polystichum setiferum) is een wintergroene varen met elegant verdeelde wedels die uitstekend geschikt is voor schaduwtuinen waar jaar rond groene structuur en verfijnde varens gewaardeerd worden. Deze varen wordt 60-120 cm hoog en heeft dubbel geveerde wedels met zachte textuur die wintergroen blijven en elegante boogvormige groeiwijze hebben.

De wedels zijn wintergroen en hebben zeer elegante, dubbel geveerde structuur met zachte textuur. Plant groeit vanuit centrale kroon en behoudt decoratieve waarde gedurende winter. Jong blad ontrolt zich vanuit harige 'bisschopsstaven' in voorjaar. Zachte naaldvaren is essentieel voor schaduwtuinen waar wintergroene structuur en elegante varens centraal staan.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

De zachte naaldvaren doet het goed als onderbeplanting van bomen of struiken en staat ook mooi op een schaduwrijke plaats in de plantenborder. Zorg voor een beschutte standplaats en een goed doorlaatbare, voedselrijke, humusrijke, licht vochtige grond. Plantdichtheid: 5 - 7 per m²

### Cultivars (Soorten)

Bijna alle variëteiten van Polystichum zijn groenblijvend. Polystichum polyblepharum heeft donkergroene, blinkende, dubbelgeveerde bladeren.

### Onderhoud

Plant zachte naaldvaren in schaduw tot halfschaduw in vochtige, humusrijke grond. Plant houdt van beschutte omstandigheden.

Verwijder alleen volledig bruine wedels in voorjaar. Bescherm tegen sterke wind die wintergroene wedels kan beschadigen.

Water regelmatig tijdens droge periodes. Mulch met bladcompost voor optimale groei-omstandigheden.
