# Wollige sneeuwbal

## Viburnum lantana

Wollige sneeuwbal (Viburnum lantana) is een inheemse struik met wollige bladeren en witte bloemen in platte schermen gevolgd door rode bessen die uitstekend geschikt is voor kalkrijke gronden waar andere viburnum-soorten falen. Deze struik wordt 200-400 cm hoog en heeft ovale bladeren met wollige onderkant en platte schermen van witte bloemen die mei-juni verschijnen.

De bladeren hebben karakteristieke wollige, grijze onderkant en voelen zacht aan. Bloemen staan in platte schermen en worden gevolgd door bessen die van groen via rood naar zwart verkleuren. Plant verdraagt kalk en droogte beter dan gewone sneeuwbal. Wollige sneeuwbal is waardevol voor kalkrijke gronden waar inheemse wildlife-struiken centraal staan.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Wollige sneeuwbal stelt geen eisen aan de bodem. Plant de struik op een plaatsje in de volle zon tot halfschaduw.

### Cultivars (Soorten)

V. plicatum tomentosum is een middelgrote soort, die tot 2 m hoog wordt; V. plicatum tomentosum 'Watanabe' wordt 1,8 tot 2 meter hoog en bloeit zeer rijk en lang, van mei tot september; 'Mariesi' blijft lager (ca 1,5 meter). Beide cultivars hebben typische gelaagde takken. Viburnum opulus is een inheemse soort, d.w.z. dat hij hier van nature voorkomt; Viburnum 'Pragense'​ groeit opgaand met breed groeiende takken tot 2m hoog en bloeit in april-mei; V. lantana 'Aureum' is geurend, en heeft een fris, geelgroen voorjaarsblad.

### Onderhoud

Plant wollige sneeuwbal in zon tot halfschaduw in kalkrijke grond. Plant verdraagt droge, arme omstandigheden.

Snoei minimaal - alleen vormcorrecties na bloei. Plant heeft natuurlijke elegante vorm.

Water alleen eerste jaar na aanplant. Gevestigde plant is zeer droogteverdragend en onderhoudsarm.
