# Winterheide - Dopheide

## Erica darleyensis

Winterheide-Dopheide (Erica carnea) is een lage wintergroene heide die bloeit in winter en vroeg voorjaar en uitstekend geschikt is voor heidetuinen waar jaar rond kleur en winterbloei gewenst zijn. Deze struik wordt 15-40 cm hoog en heeft kleine naaldachtige bladeren met kleine klokjesbloemen in wit, roze of rood die december-april verschijnen wanneer weinig andere planten bloeien.

De bloemen zijn kleine klokjes die in dichte trossen aan takpunten verschijnen. Plant bloeit in koudste maanden en biedt belangrijke vroege nectar voor bijen. Heeft wintergroene naalden en compacte, matachtige groei. Winterheide is essentieel voor heidetuinen waar winterbloei en jaar rond structuur centraal staan.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Erica darleyensis is de enige heidesoort die een standplaats met een beetje kalk verdraagt. Hij doet het goed in plantenbakken of potten. Plantdichtheid: 8 - 11 per m²

### Cultivars (Soorten)

'Kramer's Rote' heeft een diep rozerode bloei en donker bronsgroen loof. De groeiwijze is compact en tot 60 cm breed; 'Darley Dale' is eveneens een compacte cultivar, die dieproze bloeit.

### Onderhoud

Plant winterheide in volle zon in goed doorlatende, licht zure grond. Verdraagt meer bodentypes dan struikheide.

Snoei licht na bloei in maart-april. Knip bloeiende takken terug voor compacte groei.

Water met regenwater tijdens droge periodes. Mulch met naaldhoutsnippers voor zure omstandigheden.
