# Wilde kardinaalsmuts

## Euonymus europaeus

Wilde kardinaalsmuts (Euonymus europaeus) is een inheemse struik met ovale bladeren en opvallende roze vruchten die openspringen om oranje zaden te tonen, uitstekend geschikt voor wildlife-tuinen waar herfstkleur en vogelvoeding centraal staan. Deze struik wordt 200-600 cm hoog en heeft tegenoverstaande bladeren met kleine groene bloemen die mei verschijnen, gevolgd door karakteristieke vierkante takken en spectaculaire roze vruchten.

De vruchten zijn het spektakel - roze capsules die openspringen om feloranje zaden te tonen. Plant heeft vierkante groene takken die opvallen in winter en prachtige gele tot rode herfstverkleuring. Alle delen zijn giftig voor mensen maar bessen voeden vogels. Wilde kardinaalsmuts is essentieel voor inheemse tuinen waar wildlife-ondersteuning en herfstkleur centraal staan.

Hij wortelt oppervlakkig en stelt weinig eisen aan de bodem. Wilde kardinaalsmuts staat best op een plaatsje in de volle zon of halfschaduw.

### Cultivars (Soorten)

'Red Cascade' heeft overhangende takken en in de herfst helderrode bladeren en felroze vruchten

### Onderhoud

Plant wilde kardinaalsmuts in zon tot halfschaduw in normale grond. Plant groeit in verschillende omstandigheden.

Snoei minimaal voor natuurlijke vorm. Plant heeft elegante natuurlijke groeiwijze.

Water eerste jaar regelmatig. Gevestigde plant is onderhoudsarm. Waarschuw over giftigheid.
