# Vlambloem

## Phlox sp.

Vlambloem (Phlox paniculata) is een Noord-Amerikaanse vaste plant met lancetbladigen en grote schermen van geurende bloemen die uitstekend geschikt is voor borders waar zomergeur en vlinderbloemen centraal staan. Deze plant wordt 80-120 cm hoog en heeft lancetvormige bladeren met grote, dichte schermen van vijfbladige bloemen in wit, roze, rood of paars die juli-september verschijnen.

De bloemen hebben intense, zoete geur en verschijnen in grote, koepelvormige schermen van 15-25 cm doorsnee. Plant bloeit lang en trekt vlinders massaal aan. Moderne cultivars hebben verbeterde ziekteresistentie tegen meeldauw. Vlambloem is essentieel voor geurtuinen waar zomerparfums en vlinderbloemen centraal staan.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Vlambloem verkiest een kalk -en humusrijke grond. Afhankelijk van de soort moet de vlambloem in de zon staan en veel water krijgen of net in de halfschaduw staan en niet veel water krijgen.

### Onderhoud

Plant vlambloem in zon tot halfschaduw in vochtige, rijke grond. Plant heeft constante vocht nodig.

Water regelmatig tijdens droge periodes. Mulch rond plant voor vocht-behoud. Verdeel om de 4 jaar.

Knip uitgebloeide schermen weg voor tweede bloei. Kies resistente cultivars tegen meeldauw.
