# Vaantjesboom

## Davidia involucrata

Vaantjesboom (Davidia involucrata) is een Chinese boom met grote bladeren en unieke bloemen omgeven door witte schutbladen die lijken op zakdoeken en perfect geschikt is voor beschutte tuinen waar bijzondere bomen gewaardeerd worden. Deze boom wordt 8-15 meter hoog en heeft hartvormige bladeren met onopvallende bloemen omringd door twee grote witte schutbladen die mei verschijnen.

De witte schutbladen zijn het spectaculaire element - twee ongelijke witte 'zakdoeken' die de kleine bloem omringen. Effect is zeer dramatisch wanneer boom volwassen is en massaal bloeit. Plant heeft elegante groeiwijze en interessante schors. Vaantjesboom is perfect voor tuinen waar zeldzame bomen en unieke bloei-effecten centraal staan.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

De Zakdoekenboom wordt best geplaatst op een beschutte plek. Geen te droge grond en hij moet geplant worden in een kalkrijke -, zand -of veengrond.

### Onderhoud

Plant vaantjesboom in halfschaduw in vochtige, humusrijke grond. Boom houdt van beschutte omstandigheden.

Snoei minimaal - alleen dode takken. Plant heeft van nature elegante vorm en bloeit op meerjarig hout.

Water regelmatig eerste jaren. Bescherm tegen sterke wind die bladeren kan beschadigen.

### Dit wist je nog niet:

Davidia involucrata werd ontdekt door Franse missionaris en is een van laatste levende soorten van zijn geslacht.
