Deze plant wordt 10-25 cm hoog en heeft kleine, ovale bladeren met tweelippige bloemen in dichte clusters die mei tot vorst verschijnen. De bloemen zijn klein maar talrijk en hebben karakteristieke vorm met gespleten onderlip. Cultivars variëren van compacte typen tot hangende vormen voor hangbakken. Bloemen zijn meestal blauw maar ook wit, roze of paars beschikbaar. Tuinlobelia is perfect voor containers waar randen en cascades van kleine bloemen gewenst zijn. Plantdichtheid: 4 - 5 per m² ### Cultivars (Soorten) Er worden twee groepen onderscheiden: 'Compacta Group' met opgaande groeiwijze en 'Pendula-Group' met hangende groeiwijze. ### Onderhoud Plant tuinlobelia in zon tot halfschaduw in vochtige, goed doorlatende grond. Plant houdt van koele omstandigheden. Water regelmatig - plant verdraagt geen uitdroging. Bemest licht voor continue bloei. Knip terug bij te lange groei voor tweede bloei. Plant presteert het best in koele zomers. ### Dit wist je nog niet: Lobelia erinus komt uit berggebieden van Zuid-Afrika en is aangepast aan koele, vochtige omstandigheden.
