# Stekelnootje

## Acaena buchananii

Stekelnootje (Acaena microphylla) is een lage, kruipende vaste plant met kleine geveerde bladeren en onopvallende bloemen gevolgd door decoratieve stekelige vruchten die uitstekend geschikt is voor bodembedekking tussen stenen. Deze plant wordt slechts 5-10 cm hoog maar verspreidt zich tot 60 cm breed en heeft fijnverdeelde bladeren met kleine groene bloemen die gevolgd worden door rode, stekelige zaadhoofden.

De bladeren zijn klein en geveerd met blauwgroene tot bronzen tinten. De echte attractie zijn de stekelige zaadhoofden die rood tot bruin kleuren en lang decoratief blijven. Plant groeit als dichte mat en wortelt waar takken grond raken. Stekelnootje is perfect voor rotstuinen waar lage bodembedekking en interessante texturen gewenst zijn.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

​Stekelnootje houdt van open plaatsen met een goed doorlatende bodem. Een stenige of rotsige bodem en eventueel zanderige bodems zijn ideaal. De grond dient eerder kalkrijk te zijn. Plantdichtheid: 10 per m²

### Cultivars (Soorten)

A. magellanica heeft een kenmerkend blauwgroen blad; A. microphylla 'Kupferteppich' is bronskleurig roodbruin.

### Onderhoud

Plant stekelnootje in volle zon in goed doorlatende grond. Plant verdraagt droge omstandigheden uitstekend.

Laat plant zich natuurlijk uitbreiden. Knip alleen ongewenste uitbreiding weg. Plant heeft minimaal onderhoud nodig.

Water alleen eerste maanden na planten. Gevestigde plant is zeer droogteverdragend en onderhoudsarm.
