# Spaanse eik

## Quercus × hispanica 'Fulhamensis'

Spaanse eik (Quercus hispanica) is een hybride eik met grote, gelobde bladeren en robuuste groei die uitstekend geschikt is voor parkbeplanting en grote tuinen waar indrukwekkende bomen gewenst zijn. Deze boom wordt 15-25 meter hoog en heeft diep gelobde bladeren die groter zijn dan gewone eiken, met een brede kroon en sterke, vertakte structuur.

De bladeren zijn groot en hebben diepe lobben, groter dan die van gewone eik maar kleiner dan die van rode eik. Plant is hybride tussen kurkeik en Turkse eik en combineert eigenschappen van beide ouders. Eikels zijn relatief groot en verschijnen niet elk jaar. Spaanse eik is perfect voor grote landschappen waar monumentale bomen en langetermijnplanning centraal staan.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

De Spaanse eik heeft bij voorkeur een kalkrijke grond. Het is een winterharde boom, maar hij is warmteminnend. Plant hem op een zonnige plek.

### Cultivars (Soorten)

'Lucombeana' is een grote (semi-)wintergroene boom met opgaande groei en een meer kegelvormige kroon.

### Onderhoud

Plant Spaanse eik in volle zon in diepe, goed doorlatende grond. Boom heeft veel ruimte nodig voor ontwikkeling.

Snoei jonge boom voor goede kroonstructuur. Oude bomen hebben minimale snoei nodig.

Water eerste jaren regelmatig. Gevestigde boom is zeer droogteverdragend. Plan voor grote afmetingen.
