Deze struik wordt slechts 60-90 cm hoog maar verspreidt zich tot 200 cm breed en heeft kleine ovale bladeren met onopvallende bloemen gevolgd door roze tot witte bessen. De plant heeft een liggende groeiwijze en wortelt waar takken grond raken, waardoor hij uitstekende bodembedekking vormt. Bessen zijn kleiner dan bij gewone sneeuwbes, maar talrijker en blijven lang decoratief. Plant is zeer winterhard en onderhoudsarm. Sneeuwbes 'Hancock' is perfect voor hellingen waar erosiebestrijding en onderhoudsarme bodembedekking gewenst zijn. Ook aan de bodem stellen ze weinig eisen. Een makkelijke plant, die goed te gebruiken is als onderbeplanting. ### Cultivars (Soorten) 'Magic Berry' is een bossige struikvorm, tot 1 m hoog, met grote lilarode bessen die reeds vanaf juli kleuren; 'White Hedge' is een opgaande groeier, tot 1,5 m hoog, met groot blad en grote witte bessen die goed zichtbaar zijn. Rijkdragende variëteit met zeer langblijvende bessen; 'Mother of Pearl': gedrongen vorm, tot 1 m hoog, met grote, lilaroze vruchten aan de top van de twijgen. ### Onderhoud Plant sneeuwbes 'Hancock' in volle zon tot schaduw in normale tuingrond. Plant groeit in vrijwel alle omstandigheden. Laat plant natuurlijk uitbreiden voor bodembedekking. Knip alleen overtollige delen weg die ongewenst zijn. Water eerste jaar regelmatig. Gevestigde plant heeft minimale verzorging nodig. ### Dit wist je nog niet: 'Hancock' werd geselecteerd als onderhoudsarme bodembedekker en toont hoe kweek praktische tuinproblemen kan oplossen.
