# Sierui

## Allium sp.

Sierui (Allium hollandicum) is een spectaculaire bolplant met grote bolvormige bloemen in paars die hoog boven het bladerwerk uitsteken en uitstekend zijn voor borders en snijbloemen. Deze plant wordt 80-120 cm hoog en heeft smalle, grijsgroene bladeren met grote bolvormige bloemenhoofden van 8-12 cm doorsnede die bestaan uit honderden kleine sterretjes.

De bloemen verschijnen mei-juni in perfecte bollen op sterke stelen hoog boven het bladerwerk. Na bloei ontwikkelen zich decoratieve zaadpeulen die ook attractief zijn. Plant groeit vanuit bollen en vermenigvuldigt zich langzaam via dochterbolletjes. Sierui is essentieel voor moderne borders waar architecturale bloemen en structurele elementen gewenst zijn.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Ze kunnen overleven op alle grondsoorten. Ze staan best zoveel mogelijk in de zon en ze hebben een frisse en droge bodem nodig.

### Onderhoud

Plant sierui bollen in herfst 15 cm diep in volle zon in goed doorlatende grond. Bollen verdragen geen wateroverlast.

Laat bladeren volledig afsterven na bloei om bollen te voeden. Plant is zeer onderhoudsarm eens gevestigd.

Water tijdens extreme droogte in groeiseizoen. Verdeel pollen om de 4-5 jaar voor verjonging.

Allium hollandicum komt oorspronkelijk uit Centraal-Azië ondanks de Nederlandse naam. Symboliseert eenheid en perfectie.
