# Sierkers

## Prunus hillieri 'Spire'

Sierkers (Prunus serrulata) is een Aziatische sierboom met spectaculaire roze bloemen in voorjaar en bronzen jonge bladeren die een van de meest gewaardeerde bloesembomen is voor tuinen. Deze boom wordt 8-12 meter hoog en heeft ovale bladeren met dubbele getande randen en clusters van roze tot witte bloemen die verschijnen voordat of tegelijk met de bladuitloop.

De bloemen zijn meestal dubbelbloemig en verschijnen april-mei in dichte clusters langs de takken. Jonge bladeren zijn vaak bronsgekleurd en worden geleidelijk groen. Plant heeft een brede, uitwaaierende kroon en decoratieve schors. Na bloei ontwikkelen zich kleine kersen die geliefd zijn bij vogels. ##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Deze sierkers verkiest een luchtige en voedselrijke bodem op een plaats in de volle zon. De boom verdraagt geen verharding en is gevoelig aan wind.

### Onderhoud

Plant sierkers in volle zon in goed doorlatende grond. Boom bloeit het best met veel zonlicht.

Snoei alleen indien nodig direct na bloei. Plant bloeit op oud hout - late snoei vermindert volgende jaar bloei.

Water eerste jaren regelmatig. Gevestigde boom is redelijk droogteverdragend. Bemest licht in voorjaar.

Prunus serrulata komt uit Oost-Azië en symboliseert de lente en vernieuwing in Japanse cultuur.

Boom is belangrijk in hanami-traditie (kersenbloesem kijken) en brengt jaarlijks miljoenen mensen samen voor bloesemfestivals.
