# Schijnhulst

## Osmanthus burkwoodii

Schijnhulst (Osmanthus heterophyllus) is een wintergroene struik die 2-4 meter hoog wordt met glanzende, donkergroene bladeren die lijken op hulst maar zachter zijn. Deze Japanse struik bloeit in september-oktober met kleine, zeer geurige witte bloemen die een intense, zoete parfum verspreiden.

De bladeren van jonge planten zijn stekelig, oudere planten krijgen gladde bladeren. De struik groeit langzaam en vormt een dichte, bolvormige vorm. Bloemen zijn klein maar zeer talrijk en hun geur is op grote afstand waarneembaar. Na bloei kunnen kleine blauwe bessen verschijnen. Zeer droogtetolerant en schaduwverdragend eens gevestigd. Uitstekend geschikt voor hagen door de dichte groei. Schijnhulst is perfect voor geurende hagen en structuurbeplanting.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Schijnhulst heeft een warme en beschutte groeiplaats nodig in de zon of halfschaduw. Hij doet het goed in vrijwel elke, niet te natte, bodem en is ook geschikt voor de rotstuin.

### Onderhoud

Plant schijnhulst in zon tot schaduw in goed doorlatende grond. Zeer aanpassingsfähig aan verschillende omstandigheden.

Snoei na bloei voor haagvorm. Verdraagt harde snoei goed. Laat natuurlijk groeien voor optimale geur.

Water eerste jaren, daarna droogtetolerant. Mulch voor optimale groei. Zeer onderhoudsarm eens gevestigd.
