# Salomonszegel

## Polygonatum commutatum

Salomonszegel (Polygonatum multiflorum) is een elegante schaduwplant met boogvormige stengels waaraan kleine, witte klokjesbloemen hangen in mei-juni. Deze vaste plant wordt 40-80 cm hoog en heeft ovale bladeren die afwisselend aan de stengel staan. Na de bloei verschijnen kleine blauwe bessen. De plant groeit uit ondergrondse wortelstokken die littekens achterlaten - de 'zegels van Salomo'.

De plant vormt langzaam uitbreidende groepen en is ideaal voor natuurlijke schaduwtuinen. Bladeren verkleuren mooi geel in de herfst voordat ze afsterven. Zeer winterhard en onderhoudsarm eens gevestigd. Alle delen van de plant zijn licht giftig. Salomonszegel is perfect voor schaduwtuinen en natuurlijke bossfeer.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Salomonszegel plant je in een humusrijke bodem in de half schaduw. Deze plant past mooi als onderbeplanting van bomen en struiken. Plantdichtheid: 7 - 12 per m²

### Cultivars (Soorten)

P. multiflorum of de veelbloemige salomonszegel wordt zo'n 60 cm hoog, met roomwitte bloemen met groene punten, aan 1 m lange, gebogen stengels. Opvallende geelbruine herfstkleur en blauwe zaadbolletjes; P. odoratum blijft lager, en bloeit met witte, geurende buisvormige bloemen. Na de bloei vormen zich ronde, zwarte vruchten.

### Onderhoud

Plant salomonszegel in schaduw tot halfschaduw in vochtige, humusrijke grond. Verdraagt droge schaduw redelijk.

Laat plant natuurlijk afsterven in herfst. Verwijder oude stengels in voorjaar. Deel wortelstokken om de 5-7 jaar.

Water tijdens droge periodes. Geef jaarlijks compost of bladcompost. Zeer onderhoudsarm eens gevestigd.
