Deze plant wordt 100-150 cm hoog en heeft aromatische, diep ingesneden bladeren met kleine bloemen in dichte aren die juli-september verschijnen. De bladeren zijn zilvergrijs en aromatisch, en de bloemen staan in lange, vertakte aren boven het bladerwerk. Plant heeft houtige basis en sterke, rechtopstaande stengels. Na bloei blijven de aren decoratief en de plant heeft mooie winterstructuur. Russische salie is essentieel voor droge tuinen waar lange bloei en zilvergrijs bladerwerk gewaardeerd worden. Hij wordt het best in de volle zon geplaatst en mag niet te vaak water krijgen, een te vochtige bodem is niet goed voor deze plant. ### Onderhoud Plant Russische salie in volle zon in goed doorlatende, schrale grond. Plant verdraagt extreme droogte eens gevestigd. Knip in maart hard terug tot 15-20 cm boven grond. Plant bloeit op nieuw hout en heeft harde snoei nodig. Water alleen eerste jaar. Gevestigde plant is zeer droogteverdragend. Geen bemesting nodig in normale grond. ### Dit wist je nog niet: Perovskia is vernoemd naar Russische generaal V.A. Perovski. Plant groeit wild in Afghanistan en Tibet.
