# Rozemarijn

## Rosmarinus officinalis

Rozemarijn (Rosmarinus officinalis) is een aromatische mediterrane struik met naaldachtige bladeren en kleine blauwe bloemen die onmisbaar is in de keuken en uitstekend groeit in droge, zonnige omstandigheden. Deze wintergroene plant wordt 50-150 cm hoog en heeft smalle, leerachtige bladeren met zilvergrijze onderkant en bloemen die voorjaar tot herfst kunnen verschijnen.

De bladeren hebben een intense, pijnboomachtige geur en smaak die essentieel is voor mediterrane gerechten. Plant heeft houtige stengels en kan zeer oud worden bij goede omstandigheden. Bloemen zijn meestal blauw maar kunnen ook wit of roze zijn en trekken bijen aan. Rozemarijn is essentieel voor kruidentuinen waar culinaire toepassingen en mediterrane sfeer centraal staan.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

​Rozemarijn is een zuiderse plant die houdt van veel warmte en in de winter droge voeten. Een plek tegen een zuidmuur is excellent en hij doet het prima in pot. Plantdichtheid: 3 per m²

### Cultivars (Soorten)

Miss Jessopp's Upright (een meer opgaande vorm) en Sissinghurst Bleu zijn de mooiste. Je hebt ook roze en witte cultivars maar die zijn minder sterk.

### Onderhoud

Plant rozemarijn in volle zon in goed doorlatende, schrale grond. Plant verdraagt geen wateroverlast.

Water zeer spaarzaam - droogte intensiveert aroma. Snoei licht na bloei om vorm te behouden.

Bescherm tegen strenge vorst. In pot kweken en binnen overwinteren is veiligste methode in Nederland.

### Dit wist je nog niet:

Rosmarinus betekent 'dauw van de zee' vanwege natuurlijke groeiplaats langs Middellandse Zee. Symbool van herinnering.

Plant wordt al duizenden jaren gebruikt als kruid, geneesmiddel en rituele plant. Essentieel in mediterrane keuken.
