## Rhododendron - Knaphill

Rhododendron Knaphill is een groep loofvallende azalea's die 1,5-2 meter hoog worden en bekend staan om hun intense herfstkleuren en geurende bloemen in mei. Deze hybriden hebben grote trompetvormige bloemen in warme tinten oranje, geel en rood, vaak met contrasterende vlekken. Het gebladerte kleurt spectaculair oranje-rood in de herfst.

De Knaphill azalea's zijn volledig winterhard en bloeien voor het bladeren verschijnen. Veel cultivars zijn zeer geurig en trekken vlinders aan. Na de bloei ontwikkelt zich het blad dat in de herfst een tweede kleurspektakel geeft. Groeien matig snel en vormen brede, open struiken. Knaphill azalea's zijn perfect voor natuurlijke tuinen en bosborders.

### Onderhoud

Plant Knaphill azalea's in halfschaduw tot zon in zure, vochthoudende grond. Beschut tegen koude wind.

Water regelmatig, vooral tijdens droge zomers. Mulch voor koele wortels en zure bodem.

Snoei direct na bloei indien nodig. Geef rhododendronvoeding in voorjaar. Laat herfstblad natuurlijk afvallen.
