# Pluimspirea (Pumila)

## Astilbe chinensis 'Pumila'

Pluimspirea 'Pumila' (Astilbe chinensis 'Pumila') is een compacte bodembedekker met roze-paarse bloempluimen die later bloeit dan andere astilbes en meer droogte verdraagt. Deze lage cultivar wordt slechts 20-30 cm hoog en verspreidt zich via worteluitlopers tot dichte tapijten met smalle bloempluimen die augustus-september verschijnen.

De bloemen zijn roze-paars en staan in smalle, dichte aren boven donkergroen, geveerd bladerwerk. Plant bloeit later dan andere astilbe-soorten en verdraagt meer droogte, waardoor hij geschikt is voor plekken waar gewone astilbe faalt. Pluimspirea 'Pumila' is essentieel voor compacte schaduwbedekking waar late bloei en droogteverdraagzaamheid gewenst zijn.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Pluimspirea doet het goed in de halfschaduw of schaduw, hij kan ook volle zon verdragen maar dan moet de ondergrond steeds vochtig zijn gedurende de warme zomermaanden. De plant is niet bodem specifiek en doet het goed in elke goed doorlaatbare, niet te droge grond. Pluimspirea kan aangeplant worden als onderbeplanting van bomen of struiken, ook als bodembedekking in een schaduwtuin komt hij helemaal tot zijn recht. Plantdichtheid: 6 - 12 per m²

### Onderhoud

Plant pluimspirea 'Pumila' in lichte schaduw in vochtige grond. Plant verdraagt meer droogte dan andere astilbes.

Laat plant zich natuurlijk uitbreiden of beheers uitbreiding door ongewenste delen weg te nemen.

Water tijdens droge periodes maar minder dan bij andere astilbes nodig. Bemest licht in voorjaar.

### Dit wist je nog niet:

'Pumila' betekent 'dwerg' en is een van de eerste compacte astilbe-cultivars die ontwikkeld werd voor kleinere tuinen.

Cultivar combineert late bloei met compacte groei en betere droogteverdraagzaamheid dan gewone astilbes.
