# Perzische slaapboom

## Albizia julibrissin

Perzische slaapboom (Albizia julibrissin) is een exotische boom met geveerde bladeren die 's nachts dichtklappen en pluimachtige roze bloemen die de hele zomer geuren en vlinders aantrekken. Deze boom wordt 6-12 meter hoog en heeft dubbel geveerde bladeren met talloze kleine blaadjes en roze bloemen die bestaan uit lange, zijdeachtige meeldraden.

De bladeren klappen 's avonds en bij slecht weer dicht, vandaar de naam slaapboom. Bloemen verschijnen juni-augustus als roze pluimpjes zonder echte bloemblaadjes maar met vele lange meeldraden. Plant heeft een brede, parasolvormige kroon en zaait zich gemakkelijk uit. Perzische slaapboom is perfect voor mediterrane tuinen waar exotische bloei en bijzondere bladstructuren gewenst zijn.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Plant de Perzische slaapboom op een beschutte, zonnige plaats in de tuin. Hij vereist een waterdoorlatende bodem.

### Onderhoud

Plant Perzische slaapboom in volle zon op warme, beschutte plek in goed doorlatende grond. Boom heeft veel warmte nodig.

Snoei in maart voor vorm en verwijdering van vorst schade. Bescherm jonge bomen tegen strenge winters.

Water regelmatig eerste jaren. Gevestigde boom is vrij droogteverdragend. Let op zelfzaai - kan invasief worden.

### Dit wist je nog niet:

Albizia julibrissin komt uit Azië en wordt ook 'zijdeboom' genoemd vanwege zijdeachtige bloemen. Symboliseert nachtrust.

Plant wordt in warme landen veel gebruikt als schaduwboom vanwege brede kroon. Bloemen trekken kolibries aan in oorspronkelijke habitat.
