# Perelaar Conference

## Pyrus communis 'Conference'

Perelaar Conference (Pyrus 'Conference') is een populaire perenboom met witte bloemen in voorjaar en grote, sappige peren die uitstekend zijn voor verse consumptie en bewaring. Deze zelfvruchtbare boom wordt 3-5 meter hoog en produceert lange, groene peren met roodbruine russeting die in september-oktober rijpen en een zoete, smeltende smaak hebben.

De bloemen verschijnen april-mei in witte clusters voordat bladeren volledig uitkomen. Vruchten zijn langgerekt met karakteristieke bruine vlekjes (russeting) en hebben geel vruchtvlees. Plant is zelfbestuivend, maar produceert meer vruchten bij kruisbestuiving met andere perenrassen. Perelaar Conference is essentieel voor eetbare tuinen waar betrouwbare fruitproductie en goede bewaarbare peren gewenst zijn.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

​Perelaars houden van een plek in de zon. Voor een goede groei is de bodem zuur tot neutraal, voedselrijk, vochthoudend en goed doorlatend. Ze kunnen prima tegen de wind en groeien makkelijk aan de kust. Ze staan mooi in een hooiland of bloemenweide.

### Cultivars (Soorten)

Andere lekkere eetperen zijn 'Doyenne' en 'Comtesse de Paris'.

### Onderhoud

Plant perelaar Conference in volle zon in vochtige, goed doorlatende grond. Boom groeit het best in beschutte locatie.

Snoei in winter voor open kroonstructuur. Dun vruchten in juni bij overmatige zetting voor grotere peren.

Water regelmatig tijdens droge periodes, vooral tijdens vruchtontwikkeling. Bemest jaarlijks met compost of organische mest.

'Conference' werd in 1885 op conferentie in Chiswick geselecteerd en is nog steeds populairste perenras voor thuistuinen.
