# Penningkruid

## Lysimachia nummularia

Penningkruid (Lysimachia nummularia) is een kruipende vaste plant met ronde, muntachtige blaadjes en heldergele bloemen in juni-augustus. Deze bodembedekker wordt slechts 5-10 cm hoog maar breidt zich snel horizontaal uit via kruipende stengels. De kleine gele bloempjes lijken op muntjes, vandaar de naam penningkruid.

De plant vormt snell een dicht bladerdek en is ideaal voor moeilijke plekken waar weinig anders wil groeien. Groeit zowel in zon als schaduw en verdraagt natte omstandigheden uitstekend. De cultivar 'Aurea' heeft goudgeel blad. Kan invasief worden als hij te veel ruimte krijgt. Penningkruid is perfect voor natuurlijke tuinen en moeilijke plekken.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Penningkruid houdt van een vochtige bodem en is geschikt voor verwildering. Te gebruiken langs een vijverrand of onder heesters. Plantdichtheid: 7 - 12 per m²

### Cultivars (Soorten)

L. nummularia 'Aurea' heeft een geel blad.

### Onderhoud

Plant penningkruid in zon tot schaduw in vochtige tot natte grond. Zeer tolerant voor verschillende omstandigheden.

Begrens uitbreiding door overtollige uitlopers weg te nemen. Knip na bloei terug voor compacte groei.

Water alleen bij extreme droogte. Plant is zeer onderhoudsarm en zorgt zelf voor nieuwe groei via uitlopers.

Penningkruid is een inheemse plant die van nature voorkomt in vochtige weiden en bosranden in Europa. Traditioneel gebruikt als geneeskruid.

In moderne tuinen wordt het gewaardeerd als onderhoudsarme bodembedekker voor problematische natte of schaduwrijke plekken.
