# Parelstruik ‘Niagara’

## Exochorda racemosa ‘Niagara’

Parelstruik 'Niagara' (Deutzia gracilis 'Niagara') is een compacte loofvallende struik die 80-120 cm hoog wordt en bloeit rijkelijk met witte, stervormige bloemen in mei-juni. Deze cultivar heeft goudgeel blad dat in de herfst oranje kleurt, wat hem onderscheidt van de gewone parelstruik.

De bloemen staan in dichte trossen en zijn zeer decoratief. De struik heeft een boogvormige groeiwijze en vormt een elegante, ronde vorm. Na de bloei ontwikkelen zich kleine zaaddozen. Het gekleurde blad geeft seizoenslange interesse, van goudgeel in het voorjaar tot oranje herfstkleuren. Zeer winterhard en onderhoudsarm. Parelstruik 'Niagara' is perfect voor mixed borders en als solitaire plant.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Niagara groeit ook goed op een zonnige plek mits een voldoende vochthoudende bodem. De plant is ook geschikt voor in pot. Plantdichtheid: 1 per m²

### Cultivars (Soorten)

Niagara groeit met een heel andere groeiwijze dan de bekende 'The Bride': beduidend bossiger en opgaand, met stevigere twijgen die niet overhangen.

### Onderhoud

Plant parelstruik op zonnige tot licht beschaduwde plek in goed doorlatende grond. Volle zon geeft beste bladkleur.

Snoei direct na bloei door oude takken weg te nemen. Verwijder zwakke groei voor betere vorm en bloei.

Water tijdens droge periodes. Mulch rond plant voor vochbehoud. Geef jaarlijks compost voor gezonde groei.

Deutzia komt oorspronkelijk uit Azië en werd vernoemd naar Johan van der Deutz. 'Niagara' is een moderne cultivar geselecteerd voor het gele blad.

De struik wordt gewaardeerd in moderne tuinen voor de combinatie van bloei en gekleurd blad gedurende het hele seizoen.
