Nemesia is een kleurrijke eenjarige plant met kleine, orchidee-achtige bloemen in levendige kleuren die de hele zomer door bloeien en perfect zijn voor containers en borderranden. Deze Zuid-Afrikaanse plant wordt 20-40 cm hoog en heeft kleine, getande bladeren met bloemen in wit, geel, oranje, roze, rood, paars of blauw, vaak met contrasterende kleuren. De bloemen hebben een karakteristieke vorm met een gesperde onderlip en verschijnen in dichte trossen. Plant bloeit van mei tot vorst en verdraagt koelte beter dan warmte. Moderne cultivars zijn compacter en hebben langere bloeiperiodes dan oudere soorten. Nemesia is essentieel voor koele seizoensbloei waar subtiele kleuren en lange bloeiperiode gewenst zijn. Plantdichtheid: 5 - 8 per m² ### Cultivars (Soorten) 'Carnival' bloeit met een mengsel van kleuren geel, oranje, rood, roze en wit; 'Fire King' bloeit karmijnrood; 'Orange Prince' bloeit oranje. ### Onderhoud Plant nemesia in volle zon tot lichte schaduw in goed doorlatende grond. Plant verdraagt koelte beter dan hitte. Water regelmatig maar vermijd wateroverlast. Knip uitgebloeide bloemen weg voor continue bloei. Bemest maandelijks voor optimale bloei. Plant kan in hete zomers bloei stoppen maar herstart in koelere herfst. ### Dit wist je nog niet: Nemesia is vernoemd naar Nemesis, Griekse godin van vergelding. Plant symboliseert nederigheid en bescheidenheid.
