# Middaggoud

## Gazania sp.

Middaggoud (Lampranthus) is een succulent met dikke, cylindrische bladeren en spectaculaire, glanzende bloemen in felle kleuren die alleen openen bij zonneschijn en perfect is voor rotstuinen en kuipplanten. Deze Zuid-Afrikaanse plant wordt 20-40 cm hoog en heeft vlezige bladeren met bloemen die lijken op grote madeliefjes in oranje, roze, paars, geel of wit.

De bloemen openen alleen bij vol zonlicht en sluiten bij bewolking en 's avonds. Plant bloeit mei-september met bloemen die zo helder zijn dat ze lijken te gloeien in de zon. Bladeren zijn dik en cilindervormig, aangepast aan droge omstandigheden. Middaggoud is perfect voor rotstuinen en mediterrane kuiptuinen waar spectaculaire kleur en droogteverdraagzaamheid gewenst zijn.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Middaggoud staat liefst op een zonnige plaats in een lichte, vruchtbare, goed doorlatende grond. Plantdichtheid: 8 - 10 per m²

### Cultivars (Soorten)

G.rigens heeft oranje lintbloemen; G.pinnata heeft grijs blad en gele bloemen en is geschikt voor hangmanden.

### Onderhoud

Plant middaggoud in volle zon in zeer goed doorlatende, schrale grond. Plant verdraagt geen wateroverlast.

Water zeer spaarzaam - plant is aangepast aan extreme droogte. Te veel water veroorzaakt wortelrot.

Overwinter binnen op lichte, koele plek bij 5-10°C. Vermeerder gemakkelijk via stekken in zomer.

### Dit wist je nog niet:

Lampranthus betekent 'glanzende bloem' in het Grieks. Plant wordt ook 'ijsplant' genoemd vanwege glanzende bladeren.

In Zuid-Afrika groeit plant op kale rotsen waar anders niets groeit. Symboliseert veerkracht en aanpassingsvermogen.
