# Loodkruid

## Ceratostigma plumbaginoides

Loodkruid (Plumbago auriculata) is een Zuid-Afrikaanse klimplant met lichtblauwe, phloxachtige bloemen die de hele zomer door blijven bloeien en uitstekend geschikt is als kuipplant voor terras en balkon. Deze halfstruik wordt 2-3 meter hoog als klimmer en heeft lichtgroene, ovale bladeren met clusters van hemelblauwe bloemen aan de uiteinden van takken.

De bloemen hebben vijf bloemblaadjes en zijn lichtblauw tot wit, afhankelijk van cultivar. Plant bloeit onvermoeibaar van mei tot november indien regelmatig bemest. Kan als klimmer tegen traliwerk of als struik in pot gekweekt worden. Loodkruid is perfect voor mediterrane kuiptuinen waar langdurige blauwe bloei gewenst is.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Loodkruid is redelijk bestand tegen zeewind en luchtverontreiniging. De plant doet het goed in een goed doorlatende bodem, in de zon of halfschaduw. Plantdichtheid: 3 per m²

### Cultivars (Soorten)

Ceratostigma willmottianum en griffithii vormen meer een struik.

### Onderhoud

Plant loodkruid in volle zon in goed doorlatende potgrond. Plant houdt van warmte en veel licht voor optimale bloei.

Water regelmatig maar laat grond tussen watergiften licht opdrogen. Bemest tweewekelijks tijdens groeiseizoen.

Overwinter binnen op lichte plek bij 5-10°C. Snoei in voorjaar terug voor compacte vorm. Knip uitgebloeide bloemen weg.

Loodkruid wordt in Zuid-Afrika traditioneel gebruikt tegen oorpijn. Naam verwijst naar de grijsblauwe kleur van bladeren bij sommige soorten.

Plant is populair in warme klimaten als bodembedekker en klimmer. Wordt steeds vaker als kuipplant gekweekt.
