# Leylandcipres

## Cupressocyparis leylandii

Leylandcipres (× Cuprocyparis leylandii) is een snelgroeiende hybride conifeer die uitstekend geschikt is voor hoge hagen en windschermen door zijn krachtige groei en dichte vertakking. Deze wintergroene boom kan 20-35 meter hoog worden en groeit 60-90 cm per jaar, met schubvormige naalden in platte takken die het hele jaar groen blijven.

Plant is een kruising tussen Monterey cipres en Alaska ceder en combineert snelle groei met winterhardheid. Zonder snoei ontwikkelt zich tot kegelvormige boom, maar wordt meestal als haag gehouden door regelmatige snoei. Leylandcipres is essentieel voor snelle privacy en windschermen waar snel resultaat belangrijker is dan andere overwegingen.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Doet het op elke plek goed, ook op droge grond. Plantdichtheid: 1 per m²

### Onderhoud

Plant leylandcipres in volle zon in goed doorlatende grond. Plant verdraagt verschillende grondsoorten maar groeit het best in vochtige omstandigheden.

Snoei 2-3 keer per jaar tijdens groeiseizoen. Houd bij met snelle groei - verwaarlozing leidt tot problemen met buren.

Water regelmatig eerste jaren. Bemest jaarlijks met conifeervoeding voor gezonde groei. Monitor op ziektes bij stress.

Leylandcipres ontstond toevallig in 1888 als natuurlijke hybride en werd later massaal vermeerderd voor commercieel gebruik.

Plant kan burenruzies veroorzaken door snelle groei. In VK bestaan wetten die eigenaren verplichten hagen te beheersen.
