Deze snelgroeiende plant wordt 2-4 meter hoog en breed en heeft leerachtige bladeren die het hele jaar structuur geven aan borders en als haagplant. De geurende witte bloemen verschijnen in rechtopstaande aren en worden gevolgd door eerst rode, dan zwarte kersen. Plant groeit zeer krachtig en kan zonder snoei overwoekerd raken. Bladeren zijn giftig voor mens en dier, maar vruchten zijn veilig voor vogels. Laurierkers is essentieel voor snelgroeiende hagen en bosrijke beplanting waar wintergroene structuur met wildlife-waarde gewenst is. Hij groeit in de volle zon en in de schaduw. ### Onderhoud Plant laurierkers in halfschaduw tot zon in normale tuingrond. Plant groeit in vrijwel alle omstandigheden en is zeer aanpassingsvermogen. Snoei 2-3 keer per jaar voor haagvorming. Plant verdraagt zware snoei goed. Let op giftige bladeren bij snoeiwerk. Water eerste jaren regelmatig. Gevestigde planten zijn zeer droogteverdragend. Geen bemesting nodig - groeit van nature krachtig. ### Dit wist je nog niet: Laurierkers ondersteunt vele vogelsoorten die de vruchten eten en nestelen in dichte takken. Belangrijk voor stedelijke biodiversiteit.
