Deze wintergroene struik wordt 1-3 meter hoog en heeft smalle, leerachtige bladeren die het hele jaar groen blijven. De bloemen verschijnen aan de uiteinden van takken en bestaan volledig uit lange, gekleurde meeldraden zonder echte bloemblaadjes. Na bloei groeien nieuwe takken door de bloem heen. Plant bloeit meestal voorjaar-zomer maar kan het hele jaar bloemen hebben in warme omstandigheden. Lampenpoetsersstruik is perfect voor mediterrane tuinen waar exotische bloei en droogteverdraagzaamheid gewenst zijn. De grond moet ook goed doorlaatbaar zijn en humusrijk. Deze plant kan geplant worden in zand -en veengrond. ### Onderhoud Plant lampenpoetsersstruik in volle zon in goed doorlatende grond. In pot: gebruik doorlatende potgrond en zorg voor drainage. Water matig - plant verdraagt droogte beter dan te veel water. Bemest maandelijks tijdens groeiseizoen. Overwinter binnen op lichte, koele plek bij 5-10°C. Snoei na bloei voor compacte vorm en meer bloemen. ### Dit wist je nog niet: Callistemon bloemen trekken kolibries aan in oorspronkelijke habitat en zijn aangepast aan bosbranden die zaadverspreiding stimuleren. Plant symboliseert veerkracht en aanpassingsvermogen.
