# Lampenpoetsersgras

## Pennisetum alopecuroides

Lampenpoetsersgras (Pennisetum alopecuroides) is een sierlijk siergras met elegante, pluimachtige bloeiaren die lijken op lampenpoetsers en van augustus tot winter decoratief blijven. Deze vaste plant vormt dichte pollen van 60-100 cm hoog met smalle bladeren en karakteristieke bruine tot paarse bloeiaren die gracieus bewegen in de wind.

De bloeiaren verschijnen laat in seizoen en behouden hun vorm en kleur tot diep in winter, waardoor ze essentieel zijn voor winterstructuur in borders. Plant heeft fijn, overhangend bladerwerk dat in herfst geel verkleurt voordat het verdort. Lampenpoetsersgras is essentieel voor moderne tuinen waar beweging en winterstructuur belangrijk zijn.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Lampenpoetsersgras doet het goed in de volle zon op open plaatsen met een droge, frisse bodem. Plantdichtheid: 4 - 6 per m²

### Cultivars (Soorten)

P. alopecuroides 'Hameln' blijft lager (60 cm) en bloeit met witgroene aren; 'Little Bunny' is een dwergvorm, die niet hoger dan 35 cm wordt en het ook goed doet in bakken; 'Japonicum' is een nieuwere hogere vorm (90 cm) met lange pluimen en opvallende witte pluisjes.

### Onderhoud

Plant lampenpoetsersgras in volle zon in goed doorlatende grond. Plant verdraagt droogte goed eens gevestigd.

Knip in maart oude halmen terug tot 15 cm boven grond. Laat decoratieve aren staan in winter voor structuur.

Water eerste jaren regelmatig. Bemesting niet nodig - plant groeit het best in normale tot schrale grond.

### Dit wist je nog niet:

Pennisetum alopecuroides komt uit Oost-Azië en is een van de betrouwbaarste winterharde siergrassen voor Nederlandse tuinen.

Plant biedt zaad aan vogels in winter en beweging aan tuinen. Bloeiaren zijn geschikt voor droogbloemen.
