# Klaproos

## Papaver sp.

Klaproos (Papaver rhoeas) is een charmante eenjarige plant met papierachtige rode bloemen die symbool staan voor herdenking en wild bloeien in korenvelden en wegbermen. Deze inheemse plant wordt 30-60 cm hoog en heeft diep ingesneden, behaarde bladeren met bloemen die bestaan uit vier delicate bloemblaadjes rond een zwart centrum.

De bloemen openen zich 's ochtends en laten hun bloemblaadjes vaak binnen enkele dagen vallen, maar de plant produceert continue nieuwe knoppen van mei tot augustus. Na bloei ontwikkelen zich ronde zaaddozen met kleine openingen waar duizenden zaden uitstrooien. Klaproos is essentieel voor wilde tuinen en natuurlijke beplanting waar inheemse eenjarigen en spontane effecten gewenst zijn.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Klaprozen staan graag in de zon en groeien op vrijwel elke goed doorlatende tuingrond. De planten verkiezen een eerder droge standplaats. Plantdichtheid: 10 - 12 per m²

### Onderhoud

Zaai klaproos direct ter plaatse in voorjaar of herfst in volle zon. Plant verdraagt geen transplantatie vanwege penwortel.

Laat plant zichzelf uitzaaien door zaaddozen te laten rijpen. Water alleen bij extreme droogte - plant is droogteverdragend.

Geen bemesting nodig - plant groeit het best in schrale grond. Rijke grond geeft te veel blad en weinig bloemen.

### Dit wist je nog niet:

Klaproos is symbool van herdenking sinds Eerste Wereldoorlog en staat centraal in 'Poppy Day'. Plant groeit op verstoorde grond.

Zaden kunnen decennia lang kiemkrachtig blijven in de grond en komen op bij bodemverstoring, vandaar de naam 'slaapzaden'.
