# Kaukasische muurpeper - Roze vetkruid

## Sedum spurium

Kaukasische muurpeper (Sedum spurium) is een wintergroene vetplant die uitstekende bodembedekking vormt met vlezige bladeren en massa's kleine roze of rode bloemen in zomer. Deze laagblijvende plant wordt slechts 10-15 cm hoog maar breidt zich uit via kruipende stengels tot dichte tapijten die zelfs de moeilijkste plekken bedekken.

De dikke, spatelvormige bladeren zijn vaak roodachtig getint, vooral in winter en volle zon. De bloemen verschijnen juni-augustus in dichte schermen en trekken bijen en vlinders aan. Plant is extreem droogteverdragend en onderhoudsarm. Kaukasische muurpeper is essentieel voor droge, moeilijke plekken waar andere bodembedekkers falen.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Kaukasische muurpeper groeit goed op open plaatsen in een bodem met grind of steenslag of als muurbeplanting. Plantdichtheid: 7 - 12 per m²

### Onderhoud

Plant Kaukasische muurpeper in volle zon in goed doorlatende, liefst schrale grond. Plant verdraagt extreme droogte en arme omstandigheden.

Geen onderhoud nodig - plant zorgt volledig voor zichzelf. Alleen overtollige uitbreiding wegknippen indien gewenst.

Water alleen eerste weken na aanplant. Daarna compleet droogteverdragend. Bemesting niet nodig en zelfs schadelijk.

### Dit wist je nog niet:

Kaukasische muurpeper komt uit rotsachtige gebieden van de Kaukasus en is aangepast aan extreme omstandigheden.

Plant wordt gebruikt voor groendaken omdat het weinig gewicht toevoegt en geen onderhoud vereist bij droogte.
