# Kalanchoë

## Kalanchoe sp.

Kalanchoë (Kalanchoe blossfeldiana) is een populaire succulente kamerplant met dikke, vlezige bladeren en clusters van kleine, langdurig bloeiende bloemen in rood, roze, geel, oranje of wit die maandenlang kleur geven. Deze compacte plant wordt 15-30 cm hoog en heeft glanzende, donkergroene bladeren met vaak roodachtige randen.

De bloemen verschijnen in dichte schermen boven het bladerwerk en kunnen 6-8 weken aanhouden bij goede verzorging. Moderne cultivars bloeien vrijwel het hele jaar door en zijn uitstekend geschikt voor binnen- en buitengebruik in vorstvrije periodes. Kalanchoë is perfect voor kamerplantenverzamelingen en zonnige vensterbanken waar langdurige, kleurrijke bloei met minimaal onderhoud gewenst is.

### Waar plaatsen

Zet kalanchoë op een zonnig plaatsje in huis.

### Cultivars (Soorten)

Kalanchoe blossfeldiana komt het meeste voor, er zijn diverse soorten, met bijvoorbeeld enkele en dubbele bloemetjes. De nieuwe 'Bells' serie bestaat uit ware designer planten. Ze hebben decoratieve trossen met lichtgroene, lampionachtige luchtkussentjes, waaruit belvormige bloemetjes bloeien. Naast de bloeiende Kalanchoë’s is er een mooi assortiment blad Kalanchoë verkrijgbaar met prachtige dikke glanzende bladeren.

### Onderhoud

Plaats kalanchoë op lichte plek met ochtend- of avondzon. Plant verdraagt geen felle middagzon maar heeft wel veel licht nodig.

Water spaarzaam - laat grond tussen watergiften opdrogen. Te veel water veroorzaakt wortelrot. Bemest maandelijks tijdens bloei.

Knip uitgebloeide bloemschermen weg. Voor nieuwe bloei: geef 6 weken korte dagen (12 uur donker per dag).

Kalanchoë is oorspronkelijk afkomstig uit Madagaskar en past zich gemakkelijk aan verschillende lichtomstandigheden aan.

Plant wordt vaak als wegwerpplant behandeld maar kan bij goede verzorging jaren meegaan en elk jaar opnieuw bloeien.
