# Japanse zegge

## Carex morrowii

Japanse zegge (Carex morrowii) is een elegante wintergroene sierplant met smalle, overhangde bladeren die perfecte tekstuuraccenten geven in borders en containers. Deze compacte plant vormt dichte pollen van 30-40 cm hoog en heeft vaak bonte cultivars met witte of gele strepen door de bladeren.

De plant bloeit onopvallend met kleine bruine aren in voorjaar, maar wordt vooral gewaardeerd om het siergras-effect en de wintergroene eigenschappen. Cultivar 'Variegata' heeft witte randjes en is bijzonder populair voor heldere accenten. Japanse zegge is essentieel voor moderne tuinen waar structuur en textuur belangrijker zijn dan bloeieffecten.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Japanse zegge heeft een koele en vochtige bodem nodig. Plantdichtheid: 4 - 7 per m²

### Cultivars (Soorten)

C. morrowii 'Variegata' blijft laag (tot 40 cm) met geelwit gestreept loof; C. sylvatica heeft zeer fijne bladeren; De oorspronkelijk inheemse C. panicea (blauwe zegge) blijft eveneens laag, en doet het uitstekend in oeverbeplanting; C. flacca 'Buis' of zeegroene zegge is ideaal voor een vochtige, voedselarme bodem; De bruinachtige C. comans bronze is wintergroen; ideaal voor een goed gedraineerde, zeer zonnige plek.

### Onderhoud

Plant Japanse zegge in halfschaduw tot schaduw in vochtige, goed doorlatende grond. Plant verdraagt verschillende omstandigheden goed.

Knip in maart oude bladeren weg voor frisse groei. Plant kan ook het hele jaar door mooi blijven zonder terugknippen.

Water regelmatig in containers. In border redelijk droogteverdragend eens gevestigd. Verdeel om de 4-5 jaar.

Japanse zegge is een van de meest betrouwbare siergrassen voor schaduwrijke plekken waar echte grassen niet groeien.

Plant symboliseert veerkracht in Japanse cultuur vanwege het vermogen om te buigen zonder te breken in wind en sneeuw.
