Incalelie (Alstroemeria) is een elegante knolplant uit Zuid-Amerika met sierlijke bloemen in wit, geel, oranje, roze, rood of paars die uitstekende snijbloemen leveren met een houdbaarheid tot 3 weken in de vaas. Deze plant wordt 60-120 cm hoog en heeft lancetvormige bladeren die karakteristiek gedraaid zijn aan de steel. De bloemen verschijnen in losse trossen en hebben vaak gevlekte of gestreepte kelen met opvallende meeldraden. Moderne cultivars bloeien van juni tot oktober en vormen geleidelijk uitbreidende pollen via ondergrondse wortelstokken. Incalelie is onmisbaar voor snijtuinen en borders waar langdurige bloei en uitstekende snijbloemen gewenst zijn. Eerste jaar winterbescherming geven, daarna is de plant winterhard. In huis als snijbloem: de Incalelie staat het best op een plek met indirect zonlicht. Zet hem dus in de halfschaduw en zorg ervoor dat hij enkele uren per dag indirect zonlicht krijgt. Ze leven graag in proper water. ### Onderhoud Plant incalelie in halfschaduw tot zon in goed doorlatende, humusrijke grond. Plant verdraagt geen wateroverlast maar heeft regelmatige vochtigheid nodig. Mulch wortelzone zwaar in winter tegen vorst. Knip bloemen regelmatig voor vaas om nieuwe bloei te stimuleren. Bemest maandelijks tijdens groeiseizoen. Verdeel pollen om de 4-5 jaar in voorjaar voor verjonging en uitbreiding. ### Dit wist je nog niet: Incalelie is vernoemd naar botanicus Baron Claus von Alstromer. Plant wordt ook 'Peruaanse lelie' genoemd naar oorspronkelijke herkomst. In bloemensymboliek staat incalelie voor vriendschap en toewijding.
