# Hebe

## Hebe sp.

Hebe is een compacte wintergroene struik uit Nieuw-Zeeland met kleine, leerachtige bladeren en talrijke bloemen in wit, roze, paars of blauw die van zomer tot herfst verschijnen. Deze elegante plant vormt dichte, ronde struiken van 30-150 cm hoog afhankelijk van de soort en bloeit rijkelijk met aar- of trosvorming bloemen.

De bladeren zijn vaak glanzend groen, soms met zilverige randen of bonte tekening. Hebe bloeit lang en trekt bijen en vlinders aan met zijn nectarrijke bloemen die blijven komen tot de eerste vorst. Hebe is perfect voor kuiptuinen en beschutte borders waar wintergroene structuur met lange bloeiperiode gewenst is.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Hebe groeit het best op een humusrijke, goed doorlatende grond.  
Plantdichtheid: 3 - 5 per m²

### Cultivars (Soorten)

Toppers met klein blad zijn '*Emerald Gem'* en '*Green Globe'*. '*Sapphire'* is een erg mooie blauwpaarse struiveronica. Perfect winterhard zijn onder andere *Hebe 'albicans'* (decoratief grijs blad), *'Margret'* (lichtblauwe bloemen), *'Mrs Winder'* (paars), *Hebe 'topiaria'* (compact, witte bloemen), *Hebe pinguifolia 'Pagei'* (blauwgrijs blad) en *Hebe 'rakaiensis'* (compact, witte bloemen).

### Onderhoud

Plant hebe in volle zon tot lichte schaduw in goed doorlatende grond. Plant verdraagt geen natte voeten en groeit het best in beschutte locatie.

Snoei licht na bloei voor compacte vorm. Verwijder uitgebloeide aren om nieuwe bloei te stimuleren gedurende seizoen.

Bescherm in winter tegen koude winden. In kuipen: haal binnen bij temperaturen onder -5 °C of bescherm pot tegen bevriezen.

### Dit wist je nog niet:

Hebe is vernoemd naar de Griekse godin van de jeugd. Plant wordt in Nieuw-Zeeland ook 'veronica' genoemd vanwege botanische verwantschap.

Kleinbladige soorten zoals Hebe pinguifolia zijn het winterhardst. Grote bloemaren maken hebe populair voor snijbloemen in late zomer.
