Deze warmteminnende plant heeft brede, ovale bladeren en karakteristieke bloemen die lijken op hanenkammen of vlammen, afhankelijk van de cultivar. De bloemen behouden lang hun kleur en zijn uitstekend geschikt als snijbloem of voor droogbloemen. Plant groeit 20-80 cm hoog afhankelijk van het type en bloeit van juni tot de eerste vorst met continue nieuwe bloemen. Hanenkam is perfect voor kleurrijke zomerborders en containers waar dramatische, langdurige bloei gewenst is. Plantdichtheid: 6 - 8 per m² ### Onderhoud Zaai hanenkam in volle zon in warme, goed doorlatende grond na laatste vorst. Plant heeft hoge temperaturen nodig voor kieming en groei. Water regelmatig tijdens droge periodes maar vermijd wateroverlast. Bemest maandelijks met bloemenvoeding voor continue kleuren. Knip uitgebloeide bloemen weg voor nieuwe bloei of laat staan voor droogbloemen. Plant sterft af na eerste vorst. ### Dit wist je nog niet: Hanenkam is oorspronkelijk afkomstig uit tropische gebieden van Afrika en Azië. Plant symboliseert in verschillende culturen moed en trots.
