# Glansmispel

## Photinia fraseri

Glansmispel (Photinia) is een wintergroene struik die opvalt door zijn glanzende bladeren en spectaculaire rode of bronzen uitloop in voorjaar. Deze Aziatische struik wordt 2-4 meter hoog en produceert in mei witte bloemen in platte schermen, gevolgd door kleine rode bessen die vogels aantrekken.

De jonge bladeren verschijnen in heldere tinten rood, oranje of brons en verkleuren geleidelijk naar donkergroen met glanzende oppervlak. Deze kleurwisseling maakt glansmispel tot een dynamische plant met seizoensinteresse. Glansmispel is uitstekend geschikt voor moderne tuinen en haagvorming waar jaar-rond structuur met kleuraccenten gewenst is.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Plant glansmispel op een droge plaats uit de Noord-Oostenwind. De plant doet het perfect tegen een zuidmuur. Hij is kalkminnend en houdt van een goed doorlatende bodem.

### Cultivars (Soorten)

*Photinia × fraseri 'Red Robin'* heeft een glanzend, elliptisch, tot 10 cm lang blad. Het jonge schot kleurt opvallend helderrood.

### Onderhoud

Plant glansmispel in volle zon tot lichte schaduw in goed doorlatende, vochtige grond. Beschut tegen koude oost- en noordenwinden.

Snoei na bloei voor haagvorming of laat vrij groeien voor natuurlijke vorm. Snoei stimuleert nieuwe rode uitloop.

Water regelmatig eerste jaren voor goede vestiging. Mulch wortelzone in winter voor bescherming tegen vorst.

Photinia 'Red Robin' is de populairste cultivar vanwege de intense rode jonge bladeren. Deze kleur is het mooist in koele voorjaarsweer.

Plant wordt steeds populairder als alternatief voor laurier omdat het meer seizoensinteresse biedt door de kleurwisselende bladeren en witte bloemen.
