# Engelentrompet

## Brugmansia sp.

Engelentrompet (Brugmansia) is een spectaculaire kuipplant met enorme, hangende trompetbloemen die 's avonds een bedwelmende geur verspreiden. Deze snelgroeiende struik kan in één seizoen 2-3 meter hoog worden en produceert vanaf zomer tot herfst continue nieuwe bloemen in wit, geel, roze of oranje.

De grote, ovale bladeren en imposante hangende bloemen maken engelentrompet tot een echte eyecatcher op terrassen en in kuiptuinen. Let op: alle delen van de plant zijn zeer giftig en moeten uit de buurt van kinderen en huisdieren gehouden worden. Perfect voor tuiniers die dramatische, tropische uitstraling zoeken met intense avondgeur.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Cultivars (Soorten)

*Brugmansia arborea 'Knightii'* is bladhoudend, met witte bloemen tot 30 cm; *Brugmansia × candida 'Grand Marnier'* bloeit perzikroze; *Brugmansia suaveolens* is groenblijvend, met enorme bladeren en witte bloemen tot… 40 cm!

### Onderhoud

Plaats engelentrompet in volle zon tot lichte schaduw, beschut tegen harde wind. Plant heeft veel licht nodig voor optimale bloei en groei.

Water reichlijk in groeiseizoen - engelentrompet is zeer dorstig. Bemest wekelijks met vloeibare plantenvoeding voor continue bloei en groei.

Overwinter vorstvrij bij 5-10°C. Snoei in winter terug tot 50 cm voor compacte vorm. Let op: draag handschoenen bij alle werkzaamheden.

Engelentrompet heeft lange geschiedenis als ceremonieële plant in Zuid-Amerika, waar hij van oorsprong vandaan komt. Tegenwoordig vooral gewaardeerd om spectaculaire bloei.

De intense avondgeur trekt nachtvlinders aan in oorspronkelijke habitat. Belangrijk: ondanks schoonheid is dit een van de giftigste tuinplanten die er bestaat.
