# Duizendknoop (polymorpha)

## Persicaria polymorpha

Duizendknoop (Persicaria polymorpha) is een imposante reuzenplant die uitgroeit tot 1,5-2 meter hoge struikachtige pollen met spectaculaire witte bloempluimen in zomer.

Deze Aziatische vaste plant heeft grote, brede bladeren en vormt indrukwekkende kolonies die bijna struikachtig aandoen. De massale, roomwitte bloempluimen verschijnen in juni-juli en kunnen tot 30 cm lang worden. Na de bloei ontwikkelen zich roze getinte zaadpluimen die tot diep in de herfst decoratief blijven en structuur geven aan de tuin. Perfect voor grote tuinen waar een dramatische, architecturale plant gewenst is.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Duizendknoop plant je op een plaats in de halfschaduw of volle zon. De bodem mag eerder vochtig zijn. De plant staat mooi aan de rand van een vijver.  
Plantdichtheid: 1 - 3 per m²

### Cultivars (Soorten)

*Persicaria polystachum* is eveneens wit en geurend, en geschikt voor verwildering.

### Onderhoud

Plant duizendknoop in volle zon tot lichte schaduw in vochtige, voedselrijke grond. Geef de plant voldoende ruimte - minimaal 2x2 meter voor volle ontwikkeling.

Water regelmatig, vooral in droge periodes. Deze grote plant heeft veel vocht nodig voor optimale groei. Bemest jaarlijks met compost voor de beste prestatie.

Knip in late winter/vroeg voorjaar alle stengels terug tot grondniveau. Plant groeit snel opnieuw uit en bereikt binnen enkele maanden volle grootte.

Deze reuzenduizendknoop is een magneet voor insecten door de massale bloei en biedt vogels beschutting in de dichte vegetatie. Perfect voor wildlife-vriendelijke tuinen.

Uitstekend als solitair exemplaar in grote gazons of als achtergrondbeplanting. De plant kan ook gebruikt worden als natuurlijke afscheiding door zijn imposante omvang.
