# Cypreswolfsmelk

## Euphorbia cyparissias

De cypreswolfsmelk is een wintergroene vaste plant die vrij bossig en bodembedekkend groeit. De plant bloeit van april tot juli met groengele tuilen, waarbij de stempel en meeldraden op schutbladen staan.

Tijdens het uitbloeien kleuren de bloemen rood. Het blauwgroene blad is smal en lancetvormig. Let wel op, de zaden en het melksap van de plant zijn giftig bij inname.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Plant de cypreswolfsmelk op een plaats in de volle zon. Qua bodem verkiest hij een kalkrijke grond, maar hij verdraagt ook een neutrale tot licht zure bodem. De vaste plant is winterhard, verdraagt zeewind, luchtvervuiling en is zout tolerant. Plantdichtheid: 5 - 7 per m²

### Cultivars (Soorten)

E. cyparissias 'Bettem' is een grotere cultivar; 'Clarice Howard' heeft roodbruine bladeren.

### Onderhoud

Op het vlak van onderhoud vraagt de cypreswolfsmelk nauwelijks zorg. Je geeft alleen water wanneer de grond volledig is opgedroogd, want te natte grond kan wortelrot veroorzaken.

Uitgebloeide stengels knip je na de bloei terug tot net boven de grond zodat de plant compact blijft en nieuwe scheuten zich beter ontwikkelen. Draag hierbij altijd handschoenen, het melksap van de cypreswolfsmelk kan huidirritatie geven.

Bemesten is doorgaans niet nodig, maar in het voorjaar kun je de plant een lichte organische meststof geven voor extra groeikracht. Om de drie à vier jaar is het verstandig de plant te scheuren. Zo voorkom je dat hij gaat woekeren en houd je de pol fris. Graaf de kluit uit, verdeel hem en herplant de delen in goed doorlatende grond. De cypreswolfsmelk is volledig winterhard en hoeft in de winter geen enkele bescherming.
