# Bloemwilg

## Itea virginica

De bloemwilg is een kleine heester met een opgaande, slanke groeiwijze, een decoratieve bloeiwijze en een mooie herfstverkleuring. De bladeren zijn frisgroen, smal, elliptisch, fijngetand op licht overhangende takken. Het blad kleurt in de herfst geel, rood en paars en valt pas aan het begin van de winter af. De bloemen zijn roomwitte, halfopgerichte, geurende pluimen die tot 10 cm lang worden.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

De bloemwilg verlangt een voedselrijke, vochthoudende bodem.

### Cultivars (Soorten)

'Itea ilicifolia' is groenblijvend, met glanzend ovaal hulstachtig blad tot 10 cm lang. In de nazomer en herfst vormen zich 30cm lange trossen met kleine groenwitte bloemen die naar honing ruiken. Deze soort is niet helemaal winterhard.

### Onderhoud

De verjongingssnoei pas je toe door elk jaar na de bloei een kwart van de takken tot aan de basis terug te knippen.
