# Anna Paulownaboom

## Paulownia tomentosa

De Anna Paulownaboom is een middelgrote, snelgroeiende loofboom die gemiddeld een hoogte van 15 m bereikt. De eerste jaren zorgt het bladerdek voor een ronde, halfopen kruin en naarmate de boom ouder wordt gaat de kroon meer dicht groeien en afplatten.

De uitstaande takken zorgen voor een gewelfde kroonvorm. De bladeren zijn groot en hartvormig. De bloemen verschijnen voor het uitlopen van het blad in april - mei. Ze zijn vertakt en bloeien in violetroze pluimen. De bruine doosvruchten zijn eivormig en spits. Wanneer de vruchten rijp zijn splijten ze open en komen er veel kleine gevleugelde zaden vrij. De lege doosvruchten blijven nog een hele tijd aan de boom hangen.

##  Belangrijke zaken om te weten 

### Waar plaatsen

Kan op alle grondsoorten overleven maar verdraagt geen verharding. Plaats deze boom best op een beschutte plek want de eerste jaren is hij zeer windgevoelig.

### Onderhoud

De scheuten groeien zeer snel, maar zijn ook heel vorstgevoelig. Het kan ook voorkomen dat er dood hout is, zelfs tot in de kroon. Na de winterperiode kan de onderhoudssnoei gebeuren. Dit bestaat uit het innemen van de bevroren takken en het wegnemen van het dood hout. Snoei steeds terug tot op het gezonde hout.
